Leeds United ace wanted by C’ship club on loan, played for fierce rivals in 21/22 – report

Championship side Swansea City are keen on signing Leeds United defender Cody Drameh on loan before the window closes, according to Planet Swans.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at the Swans’ fierce South Wales rivals Cardiff City where he excelled under Steve Morison at right wing-back.

Russell Martin now wants to bring him back to Wales but he is only interested in a loan while the Whites would only entertain a permanent transfer for the England Under-21 international.

Planet Swans, however, believe that Leeds’ stance on that matter could change later in the transfer window and are willing to hold out to temporarily bring Drameh to the Swansea.com Stadium.

Swansea could even look to sell players before the transfer deadline to potentially line up the permanent move that Leeds United are hoping for if they don’t change their minds on a loan switch.

Opportunity missed

Drameh was reluctantly allowed to leave Elland Road on loan in January as Marcelo Bielsa wanted to keep the youngster as a backup to Luke Ayling but his stubborn stance was broken as the 20-year-old forced his move.

He was adamant that he wanted to play regular football and he wasn’t going to be guaranteed that by Bielsa and with Jesse Marsch now signing Rasmus Kristensen from RB Salzburg, his chances look equally bleak.

With Ayling in the equation too, Drameh is now effectively the third choice right-back at the club and despite showing promise in his handful of appearances for Leeds last season, he won’t be able to burst his way through the blockade.

You can hardly blame him for wanting to leave either having been denied his opportunity to impress Marsch who has seemingly ignored his impressive displays for the Bluebirds in the Championship last season to bring his old Salzburg band back together at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites may be in the hot seat to sign this Premier League attacker as his club are now ready to cash in.
